INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCES IN BIOMEDICINE (ICRAB-2018)
The Department of Pharmacology, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, SIMATS, Chennai in association with International Journal of Research in Pharmaceutical Sciences (IJRPS) has organised an INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCES IN BIOMEDICINE (ICRAB-2018) on August 23rd 2018. The conference was allocated with 4 credit points (Reference number 152/18) by the Tamil Nadu Dental Council. Three eminent speakers have delivered invited lectures on various topics. Dr. Prithiviraj, Department of Toxicology and Pharmacology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China has enriched the delegates with the talk on “Novel anticancer drugs from regenerative animals”. Dr. Pragasam V, Professor, Renal Research Lab, School of Bio-Science and Technology, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, delivered a talk on “Biomedicine in CAUTI” and Dr. P. Ravi Shankar, Professor, Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, Associate Dean (Curriculum and Quality assurance), American International Medical University, Beausejour, Gros Islet, Saint Lucia Biomedicine about “Current drugs in Diabetes”. A total number of 84 delegates from various institutions have participated in the conference and 37 of them presented e-posters. Four Best e-Posters were awarded. The abstracts of the presentation will be published in Scopus indexed International Journal of Research in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
National Technology Day Seminar
Saveetha Dental College`s Dept. of Pharmacology joined hands with TwinTech Academy, the leading management consultancy and teaching & training institution committed to dissemination of knowledge for the common good, to conduct a seminar on Information & Communications Technology in Healthcare on the 11th May 2017 at its campus on the occasion of National Technology Day.
Prof. Dr. Sheeja Vargheese, Asso. Dean of Academics, SDCH and Shri A Mahalingam, an Academician & Healthcare Administrator par Excellence and Managing Director of TwinTech Academy Business Management Solutions Pvt. Ltd. inaugurated the Seminar. He briefed about his institutions and also reminded about the importance of the celebration of National Technology Day.
He emphasised that suitable technology adoption is a must and would ensure that medical care is affordable and at the same time there is no compromise in ensuring a quality delivery which results in the complete delight of the patient. Such technology adoption and implementation in terms of new state-of-the-art medical equipment is an integral part of medical delivery.
Workshop on Applications of Bioinformatics in Drug Designing - Dept of Pharmacology and Biovnovem (2017)
Department of Pharmacology in Association with Biovnovem conducted a Hands on workshop on Applications of Bioinformatics in Drug Designing. This workshop was intended to introduce students to the field of Bioinformatics and its applications in real world, implications of software developed for bio-informatics on drug discovery and empower students on drug designing and development.
Ms.Priya Sankar, CEO of Biovnovem, gave an extensive talk on bioinformatic tools, Programmes and databases. Ms. Sivaranjani and Mr. Arun Research Scientists had an elaborative talk on Molecular docking and Drug designing. The students were trained for molecular docking in drug designing. It was a different experience for the students and some of them definitely will inculcate this experience in their future research. The college also has signed an MOU with BIOVNOVEM to have a future prospect in research activities.
Hands on workshop on MONITORING AIRBORNE PATHOGENS IN HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT
Department of Pharmacology organised a hands on workshop-Monitoring air quality in hospital environment to under graduate students of saveetha dental college in collaboration with technical expert from Marina Lab R & D, Chennai. Around 30 students participated in the Lecture given by Dr. N. Udayaprakash, Director, Marina Labs R & D and Dr Bhuvaneshwari, Head Dept of Plant Biotechnology, L.N.G College, Ponneri.
Ms. N. Sripriya an Industrial expert performed an Hands on Training in the evaluation of air quality to the students. The programme completed successfully with the active participation of the students.
On this Occasion an MOU was signed between Saveetha Dental College & Marina Labs R & D for collaborating various research work, publishing papers and for patent .The students will get benefitted for utilising their labs for short term research projects.
Workshop on Grant and Patent Filing
Department of Pharmacology organised one day Workshop on Grant and Patent Filing. Professor. Dr. D. Chamundeeshwari, Principal, Faculty of Pharmacy, Sri Ramachandra University has inaugurated and delivered her keynote address on "Finding & Writing Proposal". There are more than 50 delegates were participated from various colleges.

Department of Pharmacology Organised a Depression Awareness Rally and Workshop along with Department of Physiology, SDCH on World Health Day
NANODENTCON-2017
Department of Pharmacology organized one day conference on NANODENTCON-2K17 in association with Society of Pharmaceutical Education and Research on February 18, 2017 at Decennial Hall, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals (SDCH). Dr. S. Karthikeyan, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology and ET, Dr. ALM PG. Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Madras has inaugurated and delivered his inaugural address on Nanotechnology. There are more than 150 delegates were participated from various dental colleges in and around Chennai. We have received 70 e-posters and among these we selected 5 best posters. Dr. Deepak Nallasamy, Director of Academics, SDCH, presented medals and certificate to the prize winners in the valedictory function.
CME ON STRESS & ANXIETY MANAGEMENT
Department of Pharmacology Organised one day CME Programme on “Anxiety Disorders and Stress Management" on November 22, 2016 at MM Convention Centre, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals. Eminent Psychiatrists from various Hospitals from Chennai presented their Lectures. There are more than 600 delegates were participated from various dental colleges, medical colleges etc,
ISO INTERNAL AUDITOR TRAINING (30TH AND 31ST MARCH, 2017)
The event is Organised by Ms Lakshmi, Lead Auditor for QMS 9001:2015, Chief Coordinator for ISO, Saveetha University. Around 23 participants from the constituent college of Saveetha University attended the training for two days Mr. T. Srinivasan, Lead Auditor cum Tutor, British Standard Institution (BSI) gave the training about the new standard and the process of effectiveness and implementation in the organisation.
