International Webinar Series

COVID pandemic is taking the globe by storm and forcing us to work from home. Our department is organizing International webinar series which is gaining resurgence among researchers of our University and other educational institutions. The speakers enlighten the participants with cutting-edge technologies and techniques in science. The webinar series has a great outreach resulting in collaborations with various partner institutions. It also initiated technology and knowledge transfer between the laboratories. The participants are also exposed to new areas of research and we have seen overwhelming responses for attending the webinar series.

Guest Lectures Series

We organized a Guest Lecture on Invasive Pneumococcal Disease prevalence among children – Current Scenario in India   on February 22 nd 2020. Dr.  M.R. Ramesh Kumar, Ph. D, Scientist B, National Institute of Epidemology – ICMR, Chennai has delivered a detailed talk on various pneumococcal infections and its prevalence in neonates and infants. He has highlighted the process involved in the development of pnemococcal vaccine production and research. It was a very informative guest lecture for the budding dentist.

Conducted a Guest Lecture on 17th November 2018 on a topic entitled “A combinatorial informatics approach applied in deciphering insights of diagnosis and treatment”. The Disease management relies on the information of genome and proteome to identify proteins associated with a disease. The basis of new drug discovery is to inactivate proteins involved in disease, which is performed with the help of 3D structure of the protein associated with the disease. Our speaker Dr.S.Sridhar, Assistant Professor,Department of Biotechnology, Jeppiaar Engineering College has given a very informative lecture  on Integrating data, pattern recognition, mining, interpreting using machine learning algorithms and visualization. Also about the analysis and understanding of biological processes relevant to oral tool using computational tools such as statistics/machine learning approaches has explained. The present lecture might have opened way to new research projects in the young minds of our budding dentists.
