Thrust Areas: Cancer Genomics; CRISPR/Cas9 technology; Tumor microenvironment; Anti-cancer drug discovery and Stem Cell Research
Research:
He has a strong background in molecular biology and cancer genomics. His research involves understanding how epithelial to mesenchymal transition signalling molecules are regulated in cancer metastasis. His post-doctoral research work is on Patient Derived Xenograft model, for the precision medicine approach and developed more than ten primary cancer cell lines from human cancer tissue and PDX tumor tissue. Further, his research group investigated the role of EMT related genes in lung and ovarian cancer progression using Single cell RNA sequencing and 3D culture system. And also he investigated the CRISPR/Cas9 mediated PTEN knockout and its impact on epithelial to mesenchymal transition and metastasis of lung cancer cells. He also studied the molecular mechanisms on the chemopreventive effect of nimbolide in breast cancer cell lines for his doctoral research. Currently, he is working on dental mesenchymal stem cells-based therapeutic approaches for dental diseases and also doing cytotoxicity and biocompatibility studies for the various biomaterials using periodontal ligament and gingival derived primary fibroblast cells.
Cancer genomics: Genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 technology to study the signalling pathways and molecular mechanisms in the tumour microenvironment.
Anti-cancer drug discovery: Development of anti-cancer drug from the Indian traditional medicinal plant based compounds.
Stem Cell Research: Development of regenerative therapeutic strategies in Development of regenerative therapeutic strategies in dental medicine using gingival, periodontal ligament and dental pulp derived mesenchymal stem cells.
